About the Opportunity

This is an open position with Ohio Edison/Penn Power, a subsidiary of FirstEnergy Corp. [OEPP]






  • Installing and removing distribution transformers and associated devices






  • Installing and removing conductors and equipment on poles and buildings






  • Installing safety equipment on conductors and equipment; maintaining high standards of safety






  • Stringing, splicing, sagging, insulating and tying in conductors and wires






  • Installing and removing poles, towers, structures and associated devices






  • Installing and removing temporary protective grounds on conductors






  • Performing switching and tagging operations on circuits






  • Patrolling transmission and distribution lines and making climbing inspections








  • Two year Associate Degree in Utility Workers Technology or equivalent






  • Previous hands-on experience through Power Systems Institute program






  • Skills in pole climbing in distribution and transmission, installing and removing poles, towers and structures, installing and changing transformers and maintaining residential underground systems






  • Thorough knowledge of the principles and operation of transmission and distribution systems






  • Thoroughly familiar with the use and application of protective equipment for working on or near energized conductors






  • Possess a valid Class A commercial driver's license (CDL)






  • Willing to relocate to within 45 minutes from the reporting location






  • Willing to work extra and irregular hours
