Position Summary North West Redwater Partnership is a joint venture between North West Upgrading Inc. and Canadian Natural Resources Limited, with each company owning 50% stake in the Partnership. THE OPPORTUNITY: 

As an integral member of the Operations team, the incumbent will have strong background in Refinery/Upgrader operation and must understand the functionality and design constraints, including operability and maintainability criteria of the specific equipment. This role is within the NWR’s running plant organization. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 

    • Refinery/Upgrader processing knowledge (Utilities);

 

    • Previous experience in Refinery/Upgrader pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up activities;

 

    • Strong, effective procedure writing;

 

    • Good understanding of Operability, maintainability and reliability concepts and applications, and Fundamentals of Firefighting and Emergency Response;

 

    • Effective communicator verbally and written; ability to establish clear goals and manage desired outcomes;

Requirements 

    • 5+ years of experience in process operations, with experience in operations of a large plant;

 

    • 4th Class Power Engineering certificate or equivalent technical certification;

 

    • Team player: willing to continuously and proactively collaborate, share, and seek information and guidance;

 

    • Experienced in areas of operations in order to both prevent and solve issues;

 

    • Must possess a valid driver's licence (abstract of driving record required);

 

    • Some overtime and after hours coverage required;

 

    • Willing to work a rotating shift schedule including nights, weekends, holidays and be on-call to respond to emergencies when required;

 

    • Able to climb ladders and stairs, work at heights and in confined spaces;

 

    • Willing to work outdoors in inclement weather;

 

    • Using safe lifting techniques, able to lift and carry 20 kg from ground to waist level;

 

    • Ability to work safely wearing a respirator or Self-contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA).
