Description:
Researches, drafts, reviews, and negotiates legal documents, including contracts, pleadings, correspondence, and guidelines on behalf of various departments on a wide range of legal questions. Works on complex problems and identifies legal options. Functions as a legal advisor to managers. Reports to Corporate Counsel.
Duties:
• Provide advice and counsel to department managers and personnel.
• Interpret, review, draft, advise, and negotiate contracts and draft pleadings, correspondence, opinions, and other legal documents.
• Provide legal research, records searches, and statutory interpretation.
• Work with risk management on insurance policy interpretations and claims filings.
• Assist in preparing policies, guidelines, and procedures.
• Interact with various government agencies when necessary.
• Confer with attorneys, outside counsel, and other legal staff regarding work goals and objectives.
• Maintain case management and filing systems.
• Maintain and update reference materials.
Qualifications:
• J.D. or LL.B from an accredited law school.
• Admission to Arizona State Bar.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Excellent writing and drafting skills.
• 0-5 years experience progressively responsible in commercial transactions in private practice, as corporate counsel or in government.
• Excellent organizational and analytical skills.
• Proficient with word processor (Word) and internet based programs, including document exchange programs (Adobe) and legal research databases (Westlaw).
• Demonstrated ability to perform legal research, prepare complex documents, and maintain confidentiality.
