ob Description
Responsible for coordinating Safety and Occupational Health (S&OH) programs in high voltage electric utility transmission systems and facilities and related S&OH assistance to staff. · Bachelor's degree in safety and occupational health or equivalent combination of education and experience. · Seven (7) years of experience in industrial operation and maintenance, including five (5) years in the electrical utility industry. Transmission Systems experience is required. Certification as a safety professional (CSP) is preferred. · Experience in safety and/or occupational health activities in the duties described for this position is essential. · Must have a mechanical aptitude sufficient to understand related operations and maintenance functions. · Must have a working knowledge and understanding of federal and state regulations applicable to safety and occupational health for the area of assignment, including Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). · Willingness to acquire a working knowledge and understanding of applicable industry standards and codes, including the National Fire Code (NFPA). · Ability to follow through and accomplish assigned tasks to improve unsafe or unhealthful practices and conditions by working with other employees. · Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Proficiency with Microsoft, Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook is a must. Ability to research information on the Internet is desirable. · Acquire and maintain the certifications necessary to meet the above stated job duties. · Willingness to travel in the Tri-State service area 60% to 70%, including overnight stays, company vehicle use and company airplane as appropriate.
