Job Description
Responsible for designing, planning, and coordinating the installation, repair, and maintenance of on-site equipment, systems, and structures. Prepares schedules and procures material and manpower for these projects. Continuously reviews mechanical equipment, both physically and through evaluation of maintenance records in order to evaluate performance and efficiency, and to determine the need for repair or replacement. Reads and interprets blueprints/schematics and technical manuals and provides assistance to the mechanical maintenance department on technical issues. Inspects work-in-progress and at project completion to ensure that specifications are met. Responsible for cost estimates on repair or replacement of equipment, systems and structures; provides technical cost estimates of time and material; writes detailed equipment, and repair-installation specifications. Maintains documentation of modifications/repairs to equipment/structures or installation of the same, including drawings and repair reports. Assist with ongoing preventative maintenance program. Requisitions parts, equipment, supplies and contract labor using computerized purchasing/receiving system. Coordinates assigned projects with other departments, including scheduling and resolving problems; coordinating and inspecting work performed by contractors. Promotes and enforces safety and environmental programs. Assist in the development of annual capital and operating budgets for Mechanical Maintenance section. Extensive use of computer to review MSDSs, inventory levels, prepare purchase requisitions, work orders, drawings, project work scopes, repair reports and communicate by e-mail. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements· A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering with a minimum of five (5) years of experience directly related to maintenance in the power production industry or in an industrial plant with similar equipment..
· In-depth knowledge of plant equipment, design and operation, problem identification, and maintenance practices.
· Ability to read, interpret, comprehend, and apply information relative to prints, schematics, and technical and service manuals.
· Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule work assignments and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
· Knowledge of environmental and safety regulations and policies related to maintenance activities.
· Skilled in resolving problems or situations requiring the exercise of good judgment.
· Ability to communicate effectively with contractors and plant personnel, both verbally and in writing.
· Advanced computer skills including understanding of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word), preventative maintenance software programs, computerized purchasing and inventory programs, and Internet skills.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments.
