Business Relationships
Reports to Automated Mail Room Services (AMS) Team Lead. Collaborates with other software engineers and systems engineers. Works closely with support staff assigned to oversee conversion activity including data mapping and validation.
Job Summary
This position is responsible for software development and the maintenance of NISC’s AMS applications.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs basic to complex research, design and development of software systems.
- Researches, analyzes, and resolves basic to complex software maintenance.
- Shares new found knowledge and experience with peers.
- Enhances and/or maintains NISC’s application programs.
- Follows all established software development methodologies and procedures.
- Performs quality testing; including data validation, verification and balancing.
- Analyzes and captures business requirements and translates into sound design approaches for the purpose of software development.
- Ensures that all information is appropriately entered and utilized in the iVUE Support tool.
- Reviews and prioritizes assigned change requests.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Basic knowledge of Java and Doc1 Series programming languages.
- Basic knowledge of Perl scripting.
- Basic knowledge of SQL and MySQL.
- Basic knowledge of Oracle and Microsoft Access databases.
- Basic knowledge in Microsoft Windows.
- Familiarity in Postalsoft postal software or mailing industry is a plus.
- Strong problem solving skills
- Strong attention to quality processes and detailed work.
- Familiarity with operational processes and technical needs of Utility or Telecom customers.
- Ability to perform basic level analysis and problem resolution at a functional level.

Education and Experience:
Generally requires 3-5 years of experience in NISC’s current technologies or similar related experience.
Bachelors degree in professional field (information systems, or computer related filed) or equivalent experience.
