Field Engineer

Old Dominion Electric Cooperative (ODEC) is a wholesale power supplier to 11 locally owned and controlled electric distribution cooperatives. For over 60 years, ODEC and our members have made a direct connection providing for our customers needs in the communities where they live and work.

Provide technical and engineering support to ensure the reliable operation of ODEC’s Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) Systems including Remote Terminal Units (RTUs) and associated communications equipment, substation metering equipment, protective relaying equipment, distributed generation supervisory systems, and generation metering equipment.

Responsible for hardware and software configuration, maintenance and upgrades of RTUs, Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), protective relays, and kilowatt-hour meters. Coordinates activities in these areas with the responsible departments within ODEC, to include SCADA operations within the information technology (IT) department, metering activities within the billing, member services, power supply and IT departments, protective relaying within the transmission department and generation metering within the operations department.

Four-year college education BSEE Degree preferred; working knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems. Three-five years of experience in control systems and supporting communication infrastructure.
