Manufacturing Engineer

Boston-Power, Inc. is currently seeking a highly skilled and responsible Manufacturing Engineer to support the manufacturing process with our Contract Manufacturer. Based in Taiwan, this is a highly visible and strategically important position whereyou will act as a liaison between our US based corporate office and our Taiwan based contract manufacturer. You will support the battery manufacturing process and high volume manufacturing equipment at the Taiwan contract manufacturer facility. Furthermore you will be an integral part of the technology transfer from the US Corporate R&D site to the shop floor in Taiwan.

Responsibilities:

* 

Recommend and prepare equipment & process changes and related documentation to facilitate high volume production and manufacturing cost reduction;

* 

Work to help maximize efficiency by analyzing production equipment, process flow, work assembly methods, and resource utilization;

* 

Work cross functionally to achieve manufacturing process goals;

* 

Recommend, develop, design and work to procure manufacturing equipment andfacility improvements;

* 

Manufacturing Engineeringliaison between corporate and other contract manufacturer sites;

* 

Liaison between manufacturing team, engineering and QA department;

* 

Establish and monitor process variability and material specifications at contract manufacturer site in Taiwan;

* 

Help drive resolution of any manufacturing issues on site in a timely manner;

* 

Lead and manage manufacturing process improvements including 6-Sigma and similar initiatives;

* 

Compile and evaluate manufacturing test data to facilitate production startup.

Requirements:

* 

Bachelors Degree or equivalent;

* 

Minimum five (5) years experience within a high technology manufacturing setting. Experience withbattery manufacturing equipment is a big plus;

* 

Experience with a US based high technology manufacturer with business interests in China and/or Taiwan highly preferred;

* 

Has required initiative to seek out improvement opportunities, and lead improvement efforts;

* 

Good communication skill set with supply chain vendors in US and Asia is very important;

* 

Knowledge of manufacturing shop floor control systems;

* 

Strong background in quality systems such as ISO 9001;

* 

Ability and willingness to travel; on average30% of the time;

* 

Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

* 

Strong personality and good relationship builder;

* 

Fluent language skills inEnglish and Chinese (Mandarin) required;

* 

Superior customer service and follow through abilities are also required.
