active candidates – vs – passive candidates
What is the difference? An active candidate is currently seeking employment, while a passive candidate is not, they essentially are already currently employed, or simply testing the waters.
There has been a lot of buzz stating that “passive” candidates are far superior than “active” ones. Whether true or not, it may just have something to do with wanting something you can not have, and simply assuming that if one is already employed, than they “must be better” than the person that isn’t. It is assuming (at most times incorrectly), that this active candidate (or unemployed candidate), must be desperate, thus willing to say or do anything to obtain employment, even willing to take “any” job offered.
There are many advantages as well as disadvantages to both, and in the coming weeks we can discuss them both.
