The Role

Progress Energy is currently seeking a Maintenance Planner/Scheduler to join us in a contract position for 11 months, with the future potential of a full time employee role. Reporting to the Maintenance Foreman, the successful candidate will provide work order management support to all trades staff/contractors in-conjunction with the Maintenance Foreman utilizing our asset and work management solution Maximo. This position will work closely with the field operations staff, contract maintenance services, and tradespersons. This position is camp based on a shift of either 4 on/3 off or 8 on/6 off.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities


  • Responsible for building and managing preventative maintenance schedules in conjunction with our standards and guidelines
  • Responsible for the coordination and assignment of preventative and predictive work orders within Maximo including final review and closure
  • Responsible for the creation, distribution and analysis of Backlog, Emergency and Bad Actor Reports for all maintenance areas
  • Coordinate weekly status update meetings with Field Operations and Maintenance Team to drive efficiencies
  • Coordinate the development, review and updating off all maintenance procedures, job plans and work orders with the Maintenance Foremen and tradespersons
  • Coordinate the development and updating of standardized parts lists for preventative maintenance work orders and corrective work orders
  • Ensure work order compliance/review and obtain approval as required
  • In conjunction with Health, Safety, Regulatory & Environment and Operations, to help develop job plans and procedures to ensure proper documentation within Maximo
  • Support maintenance cost control, invoice management and documentation through Maximo work order tools
  • Help develop worklists in conjunction with Asset Integrity and Operations to assist with turnaround and shutdown planning approvals and budgets
  • Coordinate and input work planning activities for regulatory activities as required for engineering and operations

  • High school diploma and/or a Post –Secondary diploma within an oil and gas discipline or trade within Pipefitting, Electrical, or Instrumentation Technician
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience working in oil and gas with 5 years of experience in a planning/scheduling role
  • In-depth knowledge of field operations and continuous improvement processes
  • Knowledge of Progress Energy’s policies and all relevant Government Legislation and Regulation
  • Demonstrated oral, written communication and math skills
  • Strong organizational, motivational and project management skills
  • Effective leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with others and maintain strong relationships across different teams, in order to achieve the best results and deliver the most value
  • In-depth understanding of maintenance/outage planning and scheduling concepts
  • Strong planning, scheduling and decision making skills with the ability to manage conflicting priorities and meet deadlines
  • Ability to perform under a high degree of autonomy and independence
  • High proficiency in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience with cost management and analytics systems including AFE Navigator and Qbyte
