The Apprentice Lineman - Step 2 assists in the construction, maintenance, operations and outage restoration on the cooperative's distribution facilities in a safe and efficient manner, to assure its members of safe, reliable and affordable supply of electric energy. The position also involves climbing poles, considerable walking and standing, frequent lifting and exposure to weather extremes. Position also involves after hours response to system outages, therefore subject to irregular hours and overtime as required.Requirements
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Must also have successfully completed 1000 hours as Apprentice Lineman-Step 1 or received certification as a Utility Technician from a recognized college or technical school. PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOU DO NOT HAVE THESE QUALIFICATIONS. This position requires physical stamina and fortitude. Must be able to pass in-house climber training and qualifier evaluation to be qualified for the position. Will be required to attend apprentice school through the Joint Michigan Apprenticeship program. As a condition of employment, must be able to obtain and retain a "Class A" commercial driver's license.
Must be computer proficient. Must be of the highest integrity, dependable, patient and strong in customer relations.
