Designs and plans electrical substations and switc
h station facilities for
projects in accordance with applicable codes and re
gulations. Performs detailed engineering
studies and reports within degree discipline. Dire
cts the development of project drawings using
both conventional drafting and CADD techniques. Ga
thers information as needed to facilitate
design projects. Assists in project management by
performing detailed engineering and economic
studies, reviewing of contract specifications and e
stimating labor, materials, and construction costs
of projects. Provides technical support to others
within and outside the Engineering Department.
Maintains relationships with internal personnel, Ma
nager Purchase & Office Services, Vice
President Transmission, District Managers, Stores S
upervisor and Crew Foreman and externally
with member coops, contractors, consultants and sup
pliers to exchange information, schedule and
evaluate facility installation. Performs special a
ssignments as required.
Education & Experience Requirements:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Civil, Structural, o
Mechanical Engineering. Two years utility or consu
lting experience in transmission/substation
design preferred. Must be proficient in computer a
pplications and have good oral and written
communication skills. Completion of EIT or eligibl
e for professional registration is desirable.
Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Requires working inside in a controlled
environment and occasionally outside in varying wea
ther conditions. Requires sitting for
extended periods of time. Requires working overtim
e and traveling at times with short notice.
Requires hearing within normal range, hearing aids
are permitted. Requires vision within normal
range, corrective lens are permitted.
