Position Summary: Supervises the installation, testing and maintenanc e of electro-mechanical and mechanical equipment (including microprocessor-base d relays) of the cooperative to insure accuracy, lo ng service life, and reliability. Train, develop, mot ivate and direct assigned technicians. Reports to System Technician Superintendent. Full supervisory author ity of Technicians-Electro Mechanical and Technicia n- Mechanical and provides work direction to other ass igned personnel when required. Assumes such authority as may be delegated. Tasks, Duties, and Relationships: Plans, budgets, schedules and supervises the insta llation, testing and maintenance (both scheduled and emergency) of elect ro-mechanical, mechanical equipment and solid state control panels; such as regulators, breakers, relay s, substation transformers, mobile substations, rev enue meters and other equipment. Keeps abreast of new e quipment and testing devices and makes recommendations on their use and/or purchase. Train s, develops, motivates, reviews performance and disciplines employees assigned to achieve acceptabl e productivity, improve job knowledge and insure sa fe work practices. Participates in the testing of rela ys and meters and assists in emergency work in powe r plants as required. Prepares annual budget, test an d maintenance schedules and other reports as requir ed. Maintains relationship with all levels of the organ ization and others outside the Cooperative in the performance of the job. Performs the above duties and tasks always in the best interest of the Cooper ative. Performs special assignments as required Education & Experience Requirements: High School Diploma or equivalent Certificate and A ssociates Degree in Electrical Power Technology or equivalent . Minimum of 5 years experience as an electro- mechanical technician. Experience in personnel man agement is desirable. Physical and Environmental Requirements: Requires working outside in varying environmental locations and in varying weather conditions and tem perature extremes with extreme ranges of humidity and dryness. Requires working at night inside or o utside in all weather conditions. Requires working with and near high voltage. Requires lifting, push ing pulling or carrying of weights equal to 49 poun ds or less. Requires climbing ladders and stairs and wor king on elevated platforms or scaffolding. Require s sitting for extended periods of time while riding i n a motor vehicle. Requires wearing personal safet y equipment including breathing apparatus. Requires quick, calm action in response to emergency situations. Requires working overtime and travelin g at times with short notice. Must be able to obta in required drivers license. Requires hearing within normal range. Hearing aids are permitted. Require s vision within normal range.
