Skilled Labor A
Responsible for assisting crew with tasks as required to perform underground service installation and repair projects i.e. hand digging, gathering and assembling material required to complete tasks at multiple locations, install or repair conduits, cables, pedestals, handholes, and digging equipment operation. Responsibilities will also include terminating, splicing cables, working on lines and equipment up to 600 volts unsupervised. Position is 5 day work week, 40-50 hours and on call as needed, travel may also be required.
1-2 year minimum underground electric distribution service work experience required. Must be qualified to work on energized and de-energized lines and equipment up to 600 volts. Must be able to meet all UG Service Skilled Labor B Requirements. Requires basic skills in math, strong reading comprehension, and strong verbal communication skills. Must follow all safe work practices. If not certified, will be required to attend certification courses. Must be computer literate. May be required to work weekends, evenings and holidays. Based on the nature of the work at Standard Utility, even if not driving company vehicles, all employees are required to have a valid Texas Driver License in good standing throughout their employment with us.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Additional formal or occupational education focused on electrical services and construction is helpful. State wide travel preferable. Class A CDL Preferred.
Must be able to stand for long periods of time on varied surfaces. Must be able to move freely, including ability to stoop, crawl, and bend at the knees and waist. Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds unassisted. Must be able to pass pre-employment screening that includes background and drug testing. May be required to work long and unpredictable hours. Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather.
